Faith communities are often one of the first to respond in moments of social and political upheaval, yet these efforts often provide short-term instead of sustained support. In this book, Steve Newcom confirms that many faith leaders and institutions are unprepared to bring about meaningful social transformation through sustained public action. Across thirteen chapters, Newcom offers a set of strategies for beginning and maintaining learnable forms of public practice, each with identifiable attributes and competencies. Through a seven-fold process, the chapters herein chart a course for meaningful, social transformation grounded in achievable and intersectional forms of action.
