Joy Schulz is Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She is author of When Women Ruled the Pacific: Power and Politics in Nineteenth-Century Tahiti and Hawai‘i (University of Nebraska Press, 2023) and Hawaiian by Birth: Missionary Children, Bicultural Identity, and U.S. Colonialism in the Pacific (University of Nebraska Press, 2017).
