Abhishek Singh Amar is Associate Professor of Asian Studies and Director of Middle East and Islamic World Studies at Hamilton College, USA. He is the co-editor, along with David Geary and Matthew R. Sayers, of Cross-disciplinary Biography of a Contested Buddhist Site (2012). He directs a digital research project, Sacred Centers in India, which examines material, culture and texts to unravel the histories of the Hindu and Buddhist cities of Gaya and Bodhgaya, respectively.
